If we're all equal then why are men responsible for buying such an expensive piece of symbolic jewelry? I'm not complaining about buying a ring to ask a woman to marry me but why is there so much pressure to buy such an expensive one? All woman compare engagement rings and they somehow equate the size of the ring to how much their man loves them. I think its wrong to do that.
Why don't woman spend 3 months salary on a gift for us when we get engaged? I'd like a Harley Davidson as an engagement gift. It would be a hell of a lot easier for me to take the plunge if I knew I had a Harley waiting for me after I asked her to marry me.

My boyfriend and I have been together for three years now. We've moved places together, lived together (although we don't any longer), and as of late he has been dropping lines like "let's elope to Las Vegas,' "let's go look at jewelry" and "do you want to get married?" My parents told me the other night that if he intends on marrying me, they want a new Harley Davidson as a dowry (what I am suspecting is a joke). Obviously, I suspect what's going on, but what happened to make him bring marriage up so suddenly and is he about to propose?

Just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with their order from the Franklin Mint? I ordered a Harley-Davidson Tribal bracelet from them a month ago and they keep telling me that it is on back order, and that they will send it out and soon as it comes in. But I am getting really frustrated! I could have paid more and had one from the HD dealership by now!

Man On Harley Finds Engagement Ring On Road

WEST HAVEN, Utah - The wedding is on. A 23-year-old man who left an engagement ring on the hood of a car went from extremely unlucky to lucky when another man riding a Harley-Davidson noticed a little black jewelry box in the middle of the road.

"I never thought we'd see that ring again," said Karen Jones, whose son Tyler forgot he had put the $3,000 diamond ring on his girlfriend's car.

After some frantic days, turning the house upside-down looking for the ring, the Jones family had just about given up hope. They placed a classified ad in the Standard-Examiner, knowing the chances of anybody seeing it — or wanting to give back a diamond ring — were slim.

What they didn't know was that Monte Kirk had found the ring as he was riding his Harley one day.

"I opened the box and found a diamond ring inside," he said. "You don't find that every day."

Kirk took the ring home to his wife, Debbie, and she said they would watch the newspaper for anyone missing a ring.

Jones waited all week and decided to still propose to Amanda Anderson — with or without the original diamond. He decided to buy another ring Saturday afternoon and be more careful with this one.

However, Kirk and his wife had noticed the ad and were trying to reach Jones and tell him. When Kirk finally got through, he said Karen Jones answered.

"She was so happy," Kirk said. "Her son works two jobs and was going to propose that very day."

Kirk asked Karen to describe the ring in detail to make sure it was the right one. When he was sure it was the same ring, Kirk and his wife hopped on the Harley and met Karen Jones at a nearby store.

"He suddenly brought out the ring from behind his back, and I just started bawling," she said. "I asked him to follow me over to the bank to give him the ($100) reward. He wouldn't accept the reward, though."

Kirk said he never thought of keeping the ring.

"I know my wife would be sick if she lost her ring," he said. "There wasn't anything else to do. It wasn't rightfully mine. I had to find the owner."

Later that day, Anderson said "yes" to Jones' proposal.

I'm single & have lived alone for 18 yrs. I'm unemployed & doing SOME housecleaning making VERY little money to get by. I have NO family to loan me money & NO assets to sell for cash & a '94 Civic that's NOW needing various repairs. Rents due & I DON'T have it & have NO place to go. I asked a girlfriend I've known for 30 yrs to move in & SPLIT the rent, etc., for a couple of months to avoid eviction. My girlfriend agreed since she too has money issues BUT, she HAS family whom have given her thousands, a 2004 PT Cruiser, 2005 fully loaded Ford Focus, a Harley Davidson, lots of nice jewelry, an earth contact home she's waiting to move into as soon as her ex-husband moves in 2 months, IRA's & retirement savings & a marine gentlemen whom she practically lives with PLUS she makes approx. $700 or more doing internet real estate AND she has a 17 yr son.
My girlfriend & I agreed ONLY she would move in while her son lives with a classmate until he graduates H.S. next May.
Without 1st discussing with me, she's moving her son in too BUT tells me she is paying $250 of the $500 rent & HASN'T found the time to arrange the cost of her paying half (1/2) of ALL the utilities PLUS cable/internet. ALL my furniture including my washer/dryer will be used EXCEPT for her son's bed.
I have MY ex boyfriends laptop & plan to sell his laptop to help pay a portion of my rent due. I have counted on selling it since I have NO other assets. etc., to get some cash I DESPERATELY need. My girlfriend WANTS the laptop for her son & says she will give me $75 BUT I can get $150. I've told her this, it pissed her off so she contacted MY ex boyfriend (BEHIND MY BACK), Now MY ex boyfriend says he'll just let her son "use" the laptop.
I'm EXTREMELY pissed since she has been FULLY aware of my plans to sell the laptop for DESPERATELY needed cash & unlike her, I DON'T have big assets NOR family NOR a marine boyfriend---I HAVE NOTHING.
*** I have the laptop in MY possession and MY ex boyfriend does NOT & has NOT cared I have his lap top. I've budgeted $150 & decided NOT to sell her the laptop since she wants to pay me ONLY $75 for it even BEFORE she went behind my back to MY ex boyfriend & I DON'T care if this pisses her off. Also, is it WRONG for me to feel that the rent PLUS utilities/cable/internet should be SPLIT three ways since there will be three of us with her paying his 1/3 of the rent, etc.? Her son is 17 & has his own vehicle & a part time job.
